A year and a half has passed since the last news post, and since the last PD news for that matter, but there's something worth writing about here: xkcdsw-grab, an actual software release! See the release page (Release:xkcdsw-grab) for more info.

It appears Penguin Development is slowly edging towards the release of actual content. Having had my hosting plan for almost two years and not using it for much other than hosting personal files, I've decided to finally get back to working on what I actually got the web space for: sharing information and software with the world.

Moving away from my old, poorly designed, unfinished home-brew site back-end, I've decided to install MediaWiki ([1]), because it's a very powerful system quite well suited for my needs. Notwithstanding, the site is still a good distance away from being where I want it to be. I still need to set up many things, and before I allow the public to create accounts, I will need to protect the wiki from the inevitable spam that it will attract.

Still, the small amount of work that's been done now appears to be much closer to holding content of any value than anything I'd done with my site in the past 2 years. If everything goes smoothly, the first useful content should be released soon.
